Following the terrible news of acclaimed composer Vangelis’ untimely passing, we’ll be shedding a spotlight on his extraordinary music career with a unique chance to see VANGELIS AND THE JOURNEY TO ITHAKA on the big screen.
Legendary director Tony Palmer will join us in person in the cinema to discuss his documentary, the first and only profile of the reclusive musician. An Academy Award winner for his famed Chariots of Fire score, Vangelis’ career stretched from cult classics like Blade Runner to themes for the World Cup and the Olympics. He was also a prolific landscape and figurative painter and this documentary evening is one of the first opportunities to see these images.
Vangelis And The Journey To Ithaka includes interviews with Vangelis and many of his friends and colleagues, including Sean Connery, Hugh Hudson, Jessye Norman, Oliver Stone, Akiko Ebi, Julian Rachlin and others. It also includes rare, historical footage, most of which has never been seen before and recent footage of Vangelis improvising new music.
